Ground 8 - Regulations and Pre-Solo Test

Objective

The purpose of this lesson is to introduce to the appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations Part 61 and 91 which apply to student pilot operations and complete the pre-solo written test.

Scenario

You have decided to purchase a Cessna 172 airplane to complete your training in. The aircraft is located at the McClellan-Palomar Airport (KCRQ) in Southern California and you want to go pick it up to take advantage of the experience. One of your friends, Nathan, is a certified commercial pilot and has offered to come with you and act as the PIC.

  • explain, through the use of the federal regulations, how to plan a safe solo local flight.
  • satisfactorily completes a written test on solo flight limitations. The written test will be corrected to 100% by the instructor.
